Inspired by the original Golden Mile – the 6.5 kilometre long avenue that links Puerto Banús and Marbella town – the New Golden Mile is evolving as a luxurious coastal strip east of Estepona.

Though not as easily defined geographically as the famous palm-fringed avenue lined with luxurious villas, penthouses and resort hotels such as the Marbella Club and Puente Romano, the New Golden Mile focuses above all on Guadalmansa, but also contains the exclusive beachside developments dotted between here and the eastern entrance to Estepona.

As these are prime beachfront locations you won’t find villas, but instead the finest frontline beach apartments and penthouses west of Puerto Banús.

Guadalmansa

This stretch of coastline a short distance west of Cancelada forms the epicentre of the New Golden Mile, for it is home to Torre Bermeja, Cabo Bermejo and the Las Dunas Suites, three of the most exclusive beachfront apartment complexes not just between Estepona and Marbella, but in the entire region.

Designed by famous architect Melvin Villaroël in a Mediterranean-Moorish style featuring the terracotta tones of southern Morocco, Torre Bermeja and Cabo Bermejo offer exclusivity and luxury in a landscaped paradise of pools, ponds, cascades and waterfalls right by the beach.

Las Dunas Suites is even more exclusive. Enjoying the five-star deluxe service of the Healthouse Las Dunas Hotel, this is one of the few serviced luxury apartment complexes of its kind on the Costa del Sol, complete with expansive terraces, gorgeous gardens, beach club and concierge service.

Western New Golden Mile

This sense of exclusivity continues further along the coast but really reaches another concentration at the Kempinski Hotel Bahía on the east side of Estepona. Bordering on its manicured lawns and five-star beachside restaurant are the luxurious frontline beach apartment complexes of Los Granados del Mar, Bahía de la Plata and Alcazaba Beach, all of which offer their own brand of beachside style, amenities and refinement.

With the beautiful Mediterranean coastline on one side and the La Concha mountain range of the other, the New Golden Mile is one of the most popular, up and coming residential areas on the Costa Del Sol.  It is conveniently located between Marbella West and Estepona, making it the perfect spot for those choosing to live in Spain.  It has become much more popular with tourists in the last few years.  The New Golden Mile is easily accessible from Marbella, which is just a short drive away, and from Malaga airport which is around forty five minutes by car.

As well as being so close to some of the coastlines most visited attractions, the mile itself features some of the best beaches in the region.  The beaches are surprisingly quiet, even in the busiest seasons of the year, and you can find an impressive variety of beach bars and restaurants along the promenade.

The growing popularity of the New Golden Mile can be put donw to the high quality properties on offer.  The development of this area has been carefully planned which makes it a very sought after area for those looking to buy Spanish property.  There are not any high rise constructions, and there is a variety of high quality villas with both sea and mountain views along the urbanisation.  Over the last couple of years the New Golden Mile has evolved massively.

The area appeals to families, couples and individuals alike thanks to its ideal location and the abundance of local amenities.  Along the coastal highway there are tranquil beaches, beach clubs, restaurants, shops and several world class golf courses including Guadalmina, Atalaya, Los Flamingos (3 courses), La Resina Gol and El Paraiso.  One of the main landmarks is the Selwo Wildlife and Adventure Park, which is big attraction for both tourists and residents and is well worth a visit.

The New Golden Mile is split into several different resorts and communities.  For example the Hacienda Del Sol Resort which can be found close to the beach.  This gated development contains well built apartments and is surrounded by luxurious gardens, several pools and plenty of local amenities.  If you are looking for a property in this resort, this bright, south facing penthouse is very well priced for its location.  The property is located close to all the local amenities of the area including restaurants, cafes and bars.  The development itself has a large pools,  making it the perfect place to relax, unwind and soak up the sun.

Along the beachside towards Estepona, you will find a range of different developments.  The El Velerin, Dominion Beach, Mar Azul and La Alcazaba Beach are all very popular.  On the mountainside there are different communities; all with something unique to offer.  In Guadalmina Alta for example you will find a mix of quality urbanisation, villas and it even has its own shopping centre with types of shops, restaurants and other amenities, whilst also being moments from the popular down of San Pedro de Alcantara.

El Pilar and El Paraiso both have a wide variety of properties and also has a good choice of amenities as well as stunning sea views.  Some of the other developments along the New Golden Mile include the upmarket Los Flamingos, which has its own golf courses and modern apartments and the more traditional La Cancelada.  Close by, you can also find the Selwo development, which is the host to the Wildlife Animal Park.  Selwo includes a large number of brand new developments with beautiful scenery and lots of choice of amenities.
