Stockholm is in 10th place with the most direct flights to destination Málaga.

With the transition to summer time, the summer timetable for commercial flights also begins. In total, Málaga has direct flights with 130 destinations in the world or 18 million seats. Stockholm is in tenth place with the most direct flights to the Spanish Sunshine Coast.

The tourist industry expects a record summer in 2023. The program for commercial flights for the summer alone is at the same level as for the whole of last year when Málaga had 18.5 million travelers, which was 93 percent of the number of travelers the year before the pandemic.

London is still in the lead with the most airplane seats and flights at Málaga with almost 1.9 million airplane seats and more than 10,000 flights. Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, ​​​​Amsterdam, Dublin, Melilla, Brussels, Manchester and Stockholm follow among the ten cities with the most connections to Málaga.

Among Swedish destinations, the big news is Växjö, which has direct flights on Saturdays to Málaga with Norwegian for the first time. That line opens Saturday, April 1.

Figures from the Spanish aviation agency Aena show that it is primarily destinations in Europe that are responsible for the increase at Málaga with six percent more airplane seats compared to 2019.

The UK market remains the largest, accounting for around 30 per cent of passengers at Málaga Airport, and with a similar percentage of travelers staying in hotels.

Traffic to North America will open up during the summer after United Airlines opens up three flights a week between Málaga and New York from May 31. There will also be direct flights to Montreal.

The Middle East also opens up at Málaga with direct flights from Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi as well as Tel Aviv. There are direct flights to 14 destinations in Africa.
